Going to college can be an exciting yet frightening at the same time. Almost all students are nervous as they make the transition to a college setting. How are you going to make friends? What if you can’t find your classes on the first day? Luckily, these are common questions among college freshman so you are certainly not alone if you have had these thoughts. In order to make the transition from high school to college a bit easier Edgewood College has a freshman orientation. There are many benefits to attending your freshman orientation.
It’s a great way to make friends. By attending orientation events you are able to meet new people who are in the exact same situation you are. Freshman orientation is a great time to meet people who have the same classes, interests, and goals as you. Whether you are living on campus or you are a commuter student some of your best college friends could be met within the first few hours of orientation!
There are tons of things to do. Throughout orientation there are dozens of fun activities that you may already enjoy, or you might want to try for the first time. These include a midnight canoe trip, a photo challenge, a block party, a grill out, the Dueling Pianos, and many more great events around campus.
You get to know Edgewood’s campus. While Edgewood isn’t a particularly large campus you’ll still want to familiarize yourself with the environment you’ll be spending the next four years at. Orientation has a number of activities and services available to help students get comfortable finding their way around campus. Knowing the difference between Predolin and Mazzuchelli will be invaluable when it comes time to go to class on the first day.
