AVOIDING THE WINTER BLUES
As the end of January rolls around, everyone is usually quite sick of the winter weather… or at least I know I am. The cold just becomes unbearable and the snow is no longer anything special. We try to do the best we can to avoid those “winter blues.”
During the winter, my friends and I try to keep busy, regardless of the weather. Whether we are actually leaving campus or not, we make sure to have a good time.
If we stick around here, often times we watch movies, of course with either popcorn or ice cream in hand. Occasionally we will order out, either pizza or Chinese food, as a little fun something extra. Hanging around with people in the dorms is always a fun way to relax on the weekends and forget about the cold weather outside. Around campus, you can always go hang out in Wingra… either sitting with friends, playing pool or table tennis, or watching some TV. Additionally, often times there is some event either put on by RA programs or CAB that you can go to.
Leaving campus however can be just as good as a break. Being in Madison, there is always something to do downtown if you’re up to face the weather.
Whatever it is that you decide to do, you just need to keep busy. The winter may be long, but it’s really not so bad if you don’t let it get to you.
