BEATING THE WINTER BLUES
By Michael

It can get kind of heavy, a couple months into winter. It’s freezing outside. The nice, sparkly white powder of a fresh snowfall soon turns gray, like everything else. Even the sky, buildings, and roads just look gray. Lucky for students here, there is plenty to do to get out of a gray mood. The Campus Activities Board lists everything going on around campus and students get plenty of emails about upcoming events. My personal favorite mood booster in winter is the Madison music scene. Besides shows in the café here on campus, there are shows nearly every week at the Majestic, Orpheum, Annex, Barrymore, the High Noon Saloon, and at various coffee shops and bars all over town. The Overture Center, a newer building on State Street, has a public art gallery and a huge concert hall, where I will be seeing Wilco this weekend!
