Welcome to the bimonthly Q & A Edgewood College Student Experience Blogs: Twice a month we post a question, and current Edgewood College students answer the question based on their own experience as an EC student. Feel free to add your own two cents by posting response comments. Enjoy. (don’t forget to check out the EC MySpace page as well)
Without question studying abroad in the Dominican Republic has improved my Spanish immensely! Study abroad also gave me the opportunity to learn more about another culture and learn how families live and what college students in another country do. My favorite experience in the DR was volunteering at daycare for children whose mothers worked at low-paying factories.
(This question was originally asked before Julie left for her study abroad opportunity, but right now she is currently studying in Australia)
A: I haven’t gone studying abroad quite yet, but I will be leaving soon this July for a semester! I’m absolutely thrilled about it and even though sacrifices will need to be made, I know it will be worth every single penny. Studying abroad isn’t just about the classes you take there, but the experiences you have, the places you see, and the people you meet. There isn’t any class that can teach those things.
