Welcome to the bimonthly Q & A Edgewood College Student Experience Blogs:  Twice a month we post a question, and current Edgewood College students answer the question based on their own experience as an EC student.  Feel free to add your own two cents by posting response comments.  Enjoy.  (don’t forget to check out the EC MySpace page as well)

A:  Weekends really depend on who is around.  Some weekends I spent doing homework all weekend and other weekends I got off campus and experienced Madison and UW.

A:  On the weekends, there’s often sporting events to go to and tailgate at. Many weekends there’s a campus-sponsored activity for free to go and do such as rock-climbing, bowling, and even a formal dance! And of course weekends are especially great just to relax and hang out with friends on campus- watch movies (which you can rent for free from the library), order yummy Pokey Sticks from Gumby’s Pizza, catch some rays on the dock if it’s nice out, or play pool or foosball in the Wingra Café. Trust me- you’ll never be bored at Edgewood.

A:  My favorite thing to do on the weekends is go to plays or
concerts around town either at the Overture or different venues.  When it’s warm out, Edgewood students can rent a paddle or sail boat (for free!) from a nearby boathouse.  Also, there is a zoo within walking distance that is open year round.  I also usually get together with friends and we go out to dinner on State Street or watch a movie.

I love Edgewood on the weekends.  I stay almost every weekend.  The weekends are generally quiet, so there is some downtime to start my homework.  State Street is about a two minute bus ride away from campus.  Getting to the mall is an easy bus ride as well.  There is also usually some type of campus happenings every weekend as well.  The bike path around the arboretum provides for a nice Saturday walk, and the zoo is near the campus.  It is also easy to get a group of friends together and go to any of the UW campus happenings.  Of course on the weekend there are many Sunday services on and off campus—there is Mass on campus at 11:00 am and many different denominations around Madison.

A:  There is always something going on on the weekends. It is Madison after all. On a nice day it’s great to walk around the lake right behind Edgewood and maybe take the bus down to State Street. Right on campus there are always activities being held by either RA’s or different campus groups.
